If you and your partner are juggling demanding careers, parenting duties, and household responsibilities, you’re not alone. But trying to do it all can leave you burned out and resentful.
That’s why in this week’s Modern Husbands podcast episode, we spoke with Christine Landis—founder of Peacock Parent—about how outsourcing isn’t just for businesses anymore. It can be the secret to reclaiming your time, energy, and connection at home.
“There’s simply too much to do in order to achieve a healthy work-life balance and still find time to enjoy it all,” Christine explains.
And she’s right. Delegating household tasks isn’t a sign of failure—it’s a strategy for thriving.

Rethinking What It Means to Outsource
Most people think of outsourcing as something reserved for big corporations. Christine wants to change that mindset.
According to Christine, “If someone can free up my time because they can do it faster or better than I can, then why not apply that same principle to parenthood?”
The key is to reframe the shame and guilt that too often surrounds asking for help at home—especially for women.
“There is way too much shame and guilt that women especially carry when they ask for help in parenthood… and it’s time we break that cycle” says Christine. Outsourcing doesn’t mean you’re lazy or incapable. It means you value your time—and the people you share it with.
Why Delegating at Home Feels So Hard
Even when couples recognize the benefits of outsourcing, taking the leap can feel uncomfortable.
Christine pointed out that “Working parents are driven, used to a can-do attitude… It’s hard to give up control or admit you don’t want to do it all.”
Christine encourages couples to talk openly about what they love doing—and what drains them. It starts with two simple questions: What brings you joy? What fills you with dread?
“Define your joy. Define your dread. Talk with your partner about the dread… and delegate the shit NEITHER of you want to do.”
This isn’t about giving up—it’s about getting honest.
Buying Back Time for the Life You’ve Built
For many couples, the biggest barrier to outsourcing is cost. Christine suggests looking at the value of your time—not just in dollars, but in peace of mind.
“What is the value of someone being able to take that off your plate? Be honest. Don’t judge yourself or your partner.”
Think of outsourcing as an investment in your relationship. Instead of spending your limited energy scrubbing the bathroom or managing grocery deliveries, you can use that time for joy, rest, and connection.
“You are literally buying time and energy for the FUN STUFF.”

If you’re constantly exhausted at the end of the day, and the idea of doing more chores makes your heart sink, Christine has one piece of advice:
“Be honest with your partner… and start a conversation about what can be outsourced so that BOTH of you can experience more quality family time.”
